Position:Associate Professor
Ana Kirvalidze earned her BA and MA in Sociology at Ivane Javakhishvili State University. She worked on her Ph.D. at the Ilia State University and the University of Fribourg. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Humboldt University of Berlin. She studied social research methods at the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) methods schools, and studied at the Arizona State University program in Advanced Social Science Research. Her research interests include post-Soviet transformations, and particulary its socio-cultural consequences. She has published on the formation proess of collective memory and identity in contemporary Georgia in peer-reviewed journals such as Nationalities Papers, The Journal of Nationalism and Ethnicity, and Identity Studies. She is a member of the Association of the Study of Nationalities. She organizes the Annual Sociological Conference at Ilia State University which is devoted to social problems as well as new challenges in sociology.
She is a member of the European Sociological Association.
