Dr. Murman Margvelashvili born 1956. Graduated Physics Faculty of Tbilisi State University in 1978 and acquired his Candidate degree in Moscow Institute of Nuclear research in 1989. Dr.Margvelashvili conducted theoretical research in high energy physics in Georgia and abroad and published about 20 articles in international journals. Since 1994 Dr.Margvelashvili has worked in the energy sector of Georgia on infrastructure projects, energy planning, distribution operations, international energy transit, development of hydropower, energy reforms, electricity market and energy strategies. As an international consultant he has worked for European Commission and International Energy Agency in post-socialist countries.

Since 2007, M.Margvelashvili leads a think tank – World Experience for Georgia researching and analyzing national and international aspects of energy policy, energy strategy, energy security and energy planning, climate change, sustainable energy.

Since October 2013 M.Margvelashvili is an associate professor and director of Energy and Sustainability Institute at ISU. He is leading the masters program on Energy Management and Sustainable Development. Translated and edited books on Energy Policy and Climate change and systems and sustainability.

Dr. Margvelashvili is a member of Energy Academy of Georgia since 2006. He is a frequent speaker at domestic and international forums including presentations to EURONEST parliamentary assembly.
