Tamar Taliashvili graduated from Tbilisi State Pedagogical Institute of A. Pushkin in 1975 with a major in Russian-Georgian Philology. In1978 Tamar completed her PhD studies in the History of Georgian Literature. In 1985 she defended her PhD thesis “Problematics and Poetics in Early Writings of Mikheil Javakhishvili”. In 1986-1992 Taliashvili served as an Academic Councelor at the Sulkhan –Saba Orbeliani Tbilisi State University. In 2002 she was elected by the Scientific Council as a Dean of the Faculty of Philology and in 2005 was appointed as a Head of Department of Georgian Language and Literature.
Since 2006 she has been holding an academic position of a Professor of the Faculty of Art and Scienec at Ilia State University .in 2006 she was elected as a member of the University Representational Council and in 2007-2011 she served as a Dean of the Faculty of Educaiton. Since 2012 Tamar has been heading the Center of Teachers’ Professional Development Center at Ilia State University. Tamar is an author of more tha 35 scientific articles and papers. At various times she served as a member of State Committee for approving Teachers’ Professional Standards as well as managed U.S. Department of State funded Civic Education through English Language Teaching project in cooperation with PH International. Tamar Taliashvili is a participant of the US Congress funded Open World Leadership Program “Teachers’ Professional Development and Best Practices in the US”. She is also member and contributor to the Erazmus Mundus project “ Curriculum Reform for Promoting Civic Education and Democratic Principls in Israle and in Georgia”.
