Ana Tarkhnishvili graduated from the Faculty of Psychology at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in 1994.
Between 1994 and 1996, she served as an invited lecturer at the Georgian Management Academy and completed professional internships at leading research companies in Germany and Poland.
From 1995 to 2002, Dr. Tarkhnishvili was a member of an international research group led by Professor Ken Roberts from the University of Liverpool. Within this framework, five large-scale comparative studies were conducted across three South Caucasus countries, resulting in around ten international scientific publications.
In 1995, she founded the Center for Sociological Research, a non-governmental organization focused on applied social studies, where she has been actively involved in research activities. Since 2003, she has served as the organization’s Director.
During 2001–2002, she was the Director of the NGO “Your Future,” which aimed to promote healthy lifestyles among young people through the rehabilitation of sports infrastructure and the development of sports, creative, and educational programs.
From 2000 to 2004, she headed the Qualitative Research Department at the IPM-Research company
In 2004, Dr. Tarkhnishvili founded BCG Research Ltd, where she continues to serve as Director. Throughout her career, she has coordinated approximately 300 research projects, including collaborations with UNDP Georgia, the World Bank Country Office in Georgia, UNICEF Georgia, the Eurasia Foundation, and other international organizations. She has also participated in multiple international research projects in partnership with foreign research institutions.
Tarkhnishvili is an expert in pre-election and election research, having participated in around ten exit polls and pre-election studies.
She has been affiliated with Ilia State University since 2013, initially as an invited lecturer, and since 2024 as an Assistant Professor.
Since 2022, Dr. Tarkhnishvili has been a member of the Georgian Association of Public Opinion Research (GAPOR), and since 2023, she has served as Deputy Chair of the GAPOR Standards Committee.
In 2023, she defended her doctoral dissertation titled “Diversity of Schools_ The Factors Influencing the Parental Choice of Private and Public School” and was awarded the Doctor of Sociology degree.
