In 2010, Marinus Gebhardt completed his studies (diploma) in Geography at the Ludwig – Maximilians – University (Munich) with honours. Subsequently, he defended his dissertation in the Spring of 2015 within the PhD programme “Management of Mountain Environment” of the Free University of Bolzano/Bozen. Since 2016, he has been affiliated as an Assistant Professor at the Ilia State University, reading courses in geography and rangeland ecology, assessment, and management.
In parallel, he has been working as an international consultant for grassland management-related issues in Georgia. Since 2019, he has a position as a natural resource manager in the Society of Nature Conservation (SABUKO), carrying out projects in the steppes of Khacheti within the Endangered Landscapes Programme.

Scientific interests / research interests

Human impacts on grassland ecosystems, vegetation geography, high mountain and steppe ecology, transdisciplinary research approaches and grassland management.
