Tinatin Kakhniashvili has received M.S. with honor in Physics (Theoretical Physics) from Tbilisi State University (Department of Physics), Georgia,  in 1984. She got her Ph.D. degree in Physics in 1988 from Space Research Institute (Moscow, Russia) under supervision of Igor Novikov and Vladimir Lukash. Since 1988 she works as a reseracher at Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory (Georgia). She has received Doctor of Sciences in Physics and Mathematics from Lebedev Physics Institute (Moscow, Russia). 2008 she started to work at Ilia State University – as an associated professor (2008-2011), and since 2011 til today as a professor. She is also adjunct professor at Laurentian University (Canada) and research faculty at Carnegie Mellon University (USA).
