Prof. Dr. Frank Bohlander was born in 1968 in West-Germany. He studied forest management at Ludwigs-Maximillians-University (LMU) Munich, where he received his diploma in 1993. He then worked as an assistant and Ph.D. candidate as the chair of Animal Ecology (LMU). He received his doctorate (summa cum laude) in 1997, “On the energetic status of Ips typographus” From 1997-1999, he was a member of the Forestry Administration of Baden-Württemberg and left the Forest Research Institute at Freiburg for a permanent position with the Board of Forest work and technology. In 2001 he has been appointed Full Professor in Thuringia at Schwarzburg University of Applied Sciences. Due to restructuring, he has been teaching since 2007 at Erfurt University of Applied Sciences in the study of forestry

Forest ecology, rare and endangered species (Ceramby cerdo), barkbeetles (Ips typographus), Gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar)
