Graduated Tbilisi State Medical Institute at1986. Residency course at Asatiani Research Institute of Psychiatry in 1986-1988. Received specialization -Doctor Psychiatrist. 2003 received degree of Candidate of Medical Science – Topic of research “ Issues of Psychosocial Deviations among Adolescents Living in Orphan Houses.”. Studied at Moscow Academy of Postgraduate Education 1997, 30 January 2006 – October 2007 training course of adolescent and children mental health 300 academic hours -Vilnius University, Early Rehabilitation Course -2005 -Vilnius University
Carried out clinical and scientific works, participated in different local and international projects of psychosocial aid. Serves at Ilia State University from 2013 up to present.
2014-2015 Fulbright Scholar at University of Miami USA. Field of research -Identity Studies.
From 2015 Head of Mental Health Department in the Neurodevelopment Cente

Scientific interests / research interests

Nowadays Marina Gegelashvili  conducts identity studies  of adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems, as well as mothers whose children have autism. These studies important in terms of elaborating psycho preventive measures adapted for Georgian context
