Giorgi Kirkitadze is an Assistant Professor of Geomatics Engineering at Ilia State University. He holds a Master’s degree in Geography, with a specialization in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He is currently working on his doctoral project titled: “Application of Close-Range Digital Aerial Photogrammetry Technology in Archaeological Research.”

His professional interests focus on the use of geomatics technologies in environmental studies, urban spaces, and cultural heritage research.

Giorgi has many years of practical experience in the field of aerial photogrammetry. He teaches courses in which students learn how to collect and analyze spatial data using modern technologies. In addition to classroom instruction, he actively participates in field expeditions and research projects across various regions of Georgia.

 

Scientific interests / research interests

Geomatics technologies (drones, aerial photogrammetry, GIS), their integration in environmental research, urban analysis, and digital documentation of cultural heritage; as well as the collection, processing, and interpretation of geospatial data.
