In 1979 she graduated from I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Physics speciality of biophysics. In 1997 she received a Degree of a candidate of biological sciences at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biological Physics of Georgian Academy of Sciences. PhD thesis – “Cloning and sequencing of the DNA-polymerase gene from archaeon Sulfolobus acidocaldarius”. She has been emploied at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biological Physics now Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine. She has been engaged in scientific research at Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology (Moscow, Russia, 1993-1996), Agricultural Biotechnology Center (Godollo, Hungary, 1998) and Gent Agricultural Research Centre (ILVO, Belgium, 2004). Since 2006 has been working at Ilia State University. Main research topics: molecular study of genomes of plants, foods and genetically modified organisms (GMO); development of new DNA-diagnostics and nanotechnology methods to detect plant species and GMO.
