Was born on October 26th 1964. Graduated from Tbilisi public scool #101 in 1981. Studied at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University from 1981 to 1986. In 1990 he was awarded the PhD degree in the field of medical biophysics and molecular biology. In 1999 he was awarded the DSc degree in Microbiology and Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics. Has a great experience in healthcare management. In 1997-1999 he worked as First Deputy Chairman of the Department of Public Health at the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (1997-1999), Head of Standardization, Licensing and Regulation Department (1999-2001), Deputy Minister (2002-2004). In 2009-2012 he was Executive Director of the National Program for Tuberculosis and the National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, in 2013-2015 – was the Development Director of Otar Gudushauri National Medical Center. In 2005-2009 he worked as a Head of Scientific Research and Development Department of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Has a great experience of consulting work – 1999-2004 – World Bank Project Consultant of the Georgian Health System Reform, 2009-2012 – Head of the Global Fund (GF) Tuberculosis Project in Georgia; 2011 – 2015 – Member of WHO / EURO GLC, etc. From 2012 to present, he is a consultant for university research corporation (URC, USA), and also the Advisor in Healthcare issues of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia. Author of 74 scientific publications, between them 45 with impact factor, citation average index – 3,18, index of hirsch 4 (Thomson Web of Science).
Has a wife and two children.
