Position:Assistant Professor
Salome Tsopurashvili defended her doctorate in 2017 at Tbilisi State University, International PhD Program in Gender Studies. Her dissertation, investigates transformation of women’s representations in the 1920s Soviet Georgian films. In 2018 with the financial support of Open Society Foundations, she was a post-doctoral researcher at International Gender Studies Center (IGS) at the University of Oxford. In 2019-2020 she was a research fellow at New Europe College in the frame of Pontica Magna 2019-2020 program (supported by Volgkswagen Stiftung), and in 2020-2021 she conducted a post-doctoral research at the University of Oxford at the conjoined Georgian Program of the University of Oxford and Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. At this moment she is working on an English language monography From Victimhood to Empowerment: Representing Women in 1920s Soviet Georgian Cinema
