Position:Associate Professor
In 1992 Manana Ratiani graduated from faculty of geography and geology of Tbilisi State University, with a degree in tourism and regional geography. In 2004 she defended the doctoral thesis on “Geographical characteristics of Education System, based on the example of Georgia”.
Since 2004, she worked on developing a national curriculum, which was approved in 2005. In 2011, she was involved in its revision. From 2011, Manana Ratiani started working at the National Center for Teacher Professional Development as the geography consultant and from 2015 to 2021, as the Deputy Director of the center. During this period she worked on teacher’s professional standards, regulatory documents on teacher’s profession, various methodological literature.
Since 2021 she is employed at USAID Basic Education Program in a position of Director of Pre-service Education.
Since 2005, she is a member of the United Nations Economic Commission Steering Committee on Education for Sustainable Development. In 2009-2011, she was a member of the working group of the United Nations Economic Commission, which developed document Competences of Educators in Education for Sustainable Development. Notably, Manana Ratiani has participated in various international and national conferences and seminars dedicated to education issues as speaker, trainer or facilitator.
Since 2011, Manana Ratiani was an invited professor at School of Education and since 2019, she has been an associate professor at the Ilia State University.
