Nikoloz Kavelashvili currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Business, Technology, and Education at Ilia State University (ISU). Holding the position of Professor within the same University since 2016.
Between 2014 and 2021, Nikoloz Kavelashvili was a Board Member and Chair of the Central Bank of Georgia Audit Committee. Between 2019 and 2021, he also served as a Board Member of the Service for Accounting, Reporting, and Auditing Supervision, an agency operating under the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
From 2012 to 2016, Nikoloz Kavelashvili assumed the responsibilities of Chief Financial Officer and Associate Professor at ISU from 2014 to 2016.
He directed the Georgian Regional Development Fund from 2006 to 2011 – an investment project within the Millennium Challenge Georgia Fund funded by the United States Government.
From 2002 to 2006, Nikoloz Kavelashvili held the position of Vice President and Country Manager at Bedminster Capital Management in Georgia, overseeing the operations of a USD 200 million multinational investment fund sponsored by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, an agency of the United States Government.
His earlier career includes roles such as Executive Director of the Open Society Georgia Foundation and Head of Conoco’s Batumi office. Furthermore, his professional experience embraces work at Georgia’s International Monetary Fund (IMF) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) offices. Nikoloz Kavelashvili also completed an internship at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Academically, Nikoloz Kavelashvili earned his PhD in Business Administration from ISU in 2014, a Master of Arts in Economics and Finance from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1998, and a Master of Science in Physics from Tbilisi State University in 1991.
