SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCES AND MEDICINE
ILIA STATE UNIVERSITY

Direction:Neurochemistry
Position:Full Professor

Lali Shanshiashvili  graduated Tbilisi State University  in 1987. She continued research at Institute of Physiology of Georgian academy of Sciences in Tbilisi (1987-2013), was engaged in biochemistry. Lali Shanshiashvili got the degree of a candidate of biological sciences in 1991 and the degree of a doctor of sciences in 2004. 2000-2008 she had collaborations with Laboratory of Surface Biochemistry, University of Basel, Switzerland and Centre for Molecular Recognition, Collegium Basilea (Institute of Advanced Study), Basel, Switzerland. Since 2006 she is associate professor of Ilia State University.

Her main research interest lies in the study of the effect of myelin basic protein charge isomers and their peptide fragments on the  primary glial cells; glutamate receptors; macrophage plasticity; protein-lipid interactions; apoptosis; the metabolic imbalance of immune cells during genetic diseases, in particular during cystic fibrosis

Since 2000 she is academic Secretary of the Journal of Biological Physics and Chemistry (JBPC) http://www.amsi.ge/jbpc/.
